Sarah Aroner, Sc.D.

Biostatistician/Epidemiologist


Dr. Sarah Aroner is a Biostatistician/Epidemiologist in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. She received her Sc.D. in Epidemiology under the mentorship of Dr. Susan Hankinson at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where she subsequently completed her postdoctoral training with Dr. Majken Jensen. Her doctoral work focused on blood- and tissue-based biomarkers of breast cancer risk, and her postdoctoral research investigated apolipoprotein-defined HDL subspecies in relation to cardiovascular and neurologic disease risk. In her current position, she conducts and supervises analyses examining sex differences in the impact of prenatal and adult hormonal, immunologic, and cardiometabolic risk factors on neuropsychiatric disease. She also assists with database management for the laboratory’s ongoing projects in the New England Family Study and the Massachusetts General Brigham Biobank. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys playing the violin, traveling, and attending concerts and cultural events in Boston.
