Manuela Zamora, M.D.

Postdoctoral Fellow, Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, Department of Psychiatry

Dr. Manuela Zamora is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in the Department of Psychiatry.

Dr. Zamora received an M.D. degree from Universidad de la Sabana in Bogota, Colombia. There, she participated in a study to collect data from over 2000 patients with Cleft lip and/or palate phenotype to build an epidemiologic framework of this condition in Colombia. Before joining our Lab, Dr. Zamora collaborated with Dr. Tanveer Padder, a leading Psychiatrist and Director of the T.I.M.E Mental Health Clinic in Baltimore, Maryland, on a controlled research study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a novel treatment in patients with Major depressive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Dr. Zamora’s professional interests focus on non-invasive neuromodulation therapies to manage psychiatric conditions and associated comorbidities. Currently, she is working on a clinical project investigating the neuromodulator effect of respiratory-gated Transcutaneous auricular Vagus Nerve Stimulation (taVNS) in patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

In addition to her research, Dr. Zamora is an active member of the Massachusetts General Hospital Psychiatry Center for Diversity. There, she wants to help raise awareness about the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Department.

In her spare time, she is learning Portuguese, enjoys outdoor sports, and spends time in the White Mountains.
